FAQ

What is the Coasis?
The Coasis is 20 acres of pristine temperate rainforest where anything can happen. We strive to create experiences that evoke awe, insight and rejuvenation. It's a space where people can think differently without fear of judgment and challenge their assumptions that inform their worldview.
Why must we leave the Coasis better than we found it?

The Coasis is a pristine temperate rainforest we get to enjoy together. Because of this, we must show this land respect in return. This land is an entity that supports the lives of the flora and fauna, so we must do our part to be responsible stewards of the land. We must leave no trace.

Please take everything you brought back home and dispose of your trash. If you see trash that isn't yours, we'd appreciate you picking it up. If you encounter wildlife friends like tree frogs or slugs, please handle them with care (if at all). Give the flora and fauna good vibes so they can benefit from your presence.

Why must we keep the Coasis's location a secret?

Keeping the location secret reduces liability for the experiences we provide. By location we mean the address and GPS coordinates. If it got into the wrong hands, someone could spread it without our consent. People could crash our events or throw parties when we aren't there.

We'll text each guest the location closer to the day of the event. If you got tickets and don't receive it by the day before, let whoever invited you or an organizer know. Feel free to DM us on Instagram if that's easier.

Can I still come if I don't have access to a 4WD/AWD vehicle?
Yes you can! We'll send you the location of a nearby parking lot where you can park for up to 48 hours. Once there, call one of the organizers and we'll pick you up in a truck so you can load your stuff in the back. If you need to leave early or arrive on Saturday, let one of the organizers know. On Sunday we'll be driving people back to the lot throughout the morning, so you can leave whenever you want.
Can I come if I don't have a tent, sleeping bag and sleeping pad?
Yes! We will work with guests to borrow or rent camping equipment.
What is this monthly SMS newsletter you're talking about?

In the future, each month we'll text you a link to the latest issue, hosted on this website. Just one text per month.

There's growing interest in what we're building at the Coasis, and we'd like to keep you informed as we turn it into a legitimate institution. We'd love to hear your ideas, so SMS felt like the obvious way to stay connected. We haven't decided when the first issue drops, but sign up and you'll be the first to know!

Can I invite other people to the event?
Absolutely! The more the merrier!
What's the latest time I can arrive?
You must arrive no later than 6 pm on August 15th, 2026. Because we share access to a dirt road with the neighbors, we don't want guests to be driving by their homes and disturbing their evening. Keep in mind it's about a 1.5 to 2 hour drive from Portland, so please leave by 4 pm at the latest.
What is the cooking situation at the Coasis?
We have a big fire pit specially designed to cook for a lot of people, along with assorted stainless steel cookware. We'll also have plates, utensils, paper plates, plastic utensils, and solo cups so everyone can eat and drink.
Will food, water and alcohol be provided?
Unfortunately not. We don't have the means. Fortunately, the grocery store Bailey's IGA is close by, so we recommend making a pitstop on your way to the Coasis.
What should I bring?
Besides your camping stuff, food, water and alcohol, please be sure to bring layers, hiking boots, a headlamp and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. We will be doing a time capsule, so if you'd like to contribute something to it please bring it.
What's this about a time capsule?
Previous years' time capsules were a hit, so we're doing it again! The container is a big box engineered to keep everything dry. It'll be in an easily accessible place near the firepit. If you'd like to contribute something, please do! We'll bury it around 10 am on Sunday, so keep that in mind if you want to be there.
What is the toilet situation at the Coasis?
We will be renting enough port-a-potties for everyone, stocked with toilet paper and hand sanitizer. In the future we hope to have our own outhouses that are even nicer.
What is the shower situation at the Coasis?
We don't currently have a shower at the Coasis. We hope to have one in the future.
Is there a kitchen sink at the Coasis?
Sort of! The water jugs come with a spigot, so it doubles as a kitchen faucet. While not ideal, we hope to have a better setup in the future.
Why aren't there times for each artist's performance?
We decided it's more fun to just have an order that the artists play in. That way, they're free to go as long as they want without worrying about the next artist's start time. This also creates a renegade vibe. You can only experience a set if you're there for it. Performances start at 8 pm on Saturday and we have open decks as well.
What is my money paying for exactly?

You are paying for lots of DJs and visuals, a movie night, and two nights of camping. If you paid for the cheapest version of each separately:

  • An event with lots of DJs and visuals $20
  • A movie ticket $15
  • Camping for 2 nights at $15 per night

All of this together is $65, so at $50 you are saving some money.

Charging $50 per guest helps cover equipment rentals, and we appreciate you helping us out.

Any profits from the event will go toward a collectively managed fund to steward the land.

Are you all concerned about the neighbors?
No. One neighbor complained a previous year about us playing music past midnight. We have developed relationships with the neighbors and have a better set up for the sound system. Now we can play music all night. The neighbors even sometimes tell us to turn it up because they can't hear us.
What is the projection dome?

The projection dome is 26.25 ft (8 m) in diameter and over 15.5 ft (4.7 m) tall, partially covering more than 500 sq. ft of dance floor. The DJ setup sits in the center, with visuals projected on the dome from the inside for an immersive experience. It also solves two issues from last year: rain protection for the DJ setup and a large projection surface.

The skeleton is PVC pipes and hubs, covered by a 33 ft canvas with 10 grommets around the perimeter, tied down with paracord and GroundGrabba stakes drilled into the ground. The dome is only partially covered for ventilation. We had a company CNC-cut the fabric for precision, and a 4K projector projects onto the canvas.

We haven't yet been able to line the inside of the dome without compromising projection fidelity, but we plan to attach the panels with velcro and a glue gun. We hope to have a metal dome in a future year, so we can climb on it while attaching these panels.
